In June 2004, the concept of the Young Professional chapter for the Greater Toledo Urban League was birthed in the mind of several GTUL Board Members. It grew from the concern for the development and retention of young professionals in the City of Toledo and surrounding communities. A steering committee of dedicated young leaders was formed and worked diligently to bring this Movement to Toledo. In February 2005, a gala reception was held at the Toledo Club and the Greater Toledo Urban League Young Professional chapter was officially established as an auxiliary organization of GTUL. Since its inception the Young Professional chapter has grown in numbers, but more importantly the organization has contributed to the lives of Toledo's Young Professionals and the community. The organization hosts monthly Third Thursday Networkers, an annual National Day of Service and is engaged in fundraising and community service in the areas of economic empowerment, education, and civic engagement.
