When I asked Jack Van Rixel to join our team in 2005, I told him it would be short-term - probably no more than 60 days. That was 15 months ago.
At the end of the year, Jack will take his leave from the NGC family. It’s all good. We knew we wouldn’t have him forever. Jack wasn’t looking for full time work - he came out of retirement as a favor to moi. And what a favor! Jack has elevated the idea of client care and taken it to eye-popping levels.
If it’s true that all small companies go through three stages - (1) Start-up; (2) Throw up; and (3) Grow up - then Jack has certainly been a part of NGC’s growing up. He brought 14 years of banking experience - dealing with very wealthy clients, dah’ling - and made all of our clients feel like they were the cat’s meow. Prrrrrrrr…
We are going to miss Jack. Our clients are going to miss Jack. But the point is: sometimes your greatest people leave, and there’s not a darn thing you can do about it. So you have a choice: you can be bitter and blaming or you can be positive and proactive. For me, the latter is the only option. Jack was NGC’s employee for a short time, but I hope to have a relationship with him for a lifetime. You can never have too many Good People in your Rolodex, can you?
Please join me in wishing Jack the best in all things.
