Too young. Too soon.

We learned earlier this week that one of our YP leaders from Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Sunday night.  Meghan Hackett was a bright, emerging star in the YP constellation.  Meghan went home from her job at the Chamber a week ago, complaining of a headache. She never came back.  She died of complications from a brain aneurysm on Sunday night.

Many people believe that youth is squandered on the young.  In Meghan’s case, her youth was a huge asset; she brimmed with energy and creativity.  And in Meghan’s case, her youth wasn’t squandered.  It was compressed into too short a life.

Please join my team and me in remembering Meghan, who attended the 2006 Summit alongside 200 other YP leaders.

The Young Professionals Network of Dubuque has established a Meghan Hacket Memorial Fund.  To contribute, write c/o Kathy Kessler, Dubuque Chamber of Commerce,          300 Main Street, Suite 200, Dubuque IA 52001.

Here’s to you, Meghan.
