I’m tearing a page from Bill Gates’ playbook; today is the first day of my “Think Week,” a seven day period in which I plan to read all the great articles, books, and blogs I’ve been meaning to catch up on. Today, I’m finishing Joe Trippi’s book, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. My head is swimming with ways to improve our web experience, especially how we can use the web to build a true online community for all the amazing folks deeply interested in our Next Cities, Next Leaders, and Next Audiences movements (Hey, if you have ideas for what YOU’D like to see on our sites, email me: jvr@nextgenerationconsulting.com).
Here are Trippi’s 7 Rules for leveraging the internet for your cause: (1) Be first. (2) Keep it moving (don’t be static); (3) Use an authentic voice; (4) Tell the truth; (5) Build a community; (6) Cede control; (7) Believe again.
P.S. Trippi was the tech guru behind the Dean for America campaign, which raised record-breaking $$ and consciousness among Americans and got a whole generation re-invested in Democracy.
