I’m very pleased and proud to note that the leadership of my own city, Halifax, has increased funding for Pride Week by a staggering 615% - from $3500 last year to $25,000 this year. Lipservice is often paid to social capital and openness, but it takes courage to put public dollars where it counts. It feels good to know I live in a city that is serious about supporting diversity.
