I just learned of John Fetterman while scanning the current issue of Monocle Magazine . He’s the mayor of Braddock, PA and his commitment to the community, creating a vibrant place for young people, is tattooed on his arms. One arm has the zip code of Braddock, PA, 15104 and the other arm has the dates of murders that have occurred during his term. The mayor's website is also worth checking out: http://www.15104.cc/.
This caused me to pause and think about leadership, our commitment to it, those we serve, and holding ourselves to high standards of accountability. I would assume t
he residents of Braddock are grateful to have a mayor who is that willing to go the distance. I know I certainly would be.
As we face new challenges and ever-so changing landscapes, being this committed to our people and the environment is required. Leading people through change is both an honor and privilege. And some folks do take this role seriously. I myself do.
How committed are you to your role as a leader?

In the last week since writing this blog, I realized my commitment is to my wellness and one of the ways I stay well and balanced is saying “no” more often. I just send “no” this week to a board application process.
oops - “said” not “send”. Maybe I should proof read things twice too.
