Listening to your customers

I stayed at the Marriott downtown Cleveland last week.  Wow!  They weren’t kidding when they said that business travelers helped them redesign their spaces.  Here’s a short list of the things I LOVED about staying there.  FYI, this is the same list of things that drive me batty at other hotels:

- the bathroom door opens and closes all the way WITHOUT cutting off access to other rooms

- there’s a light over the shower

- the bathroom is small (c’mon, we don’t spend that much time there!)

- the office area (desktop, credenza, etc.) is large

- the in-room coffee maker has a STEEL carafe, not glass (ever broken one and then tried to walk barefoot to the restroom?)

- the bed is super comfy: nice sheets, option for feather pillows or hypoallergenic pillows

- flat panel TV (I have to admit, I didn’t really watch it, but it kept the room clutter to a minimum because the TV was flush against the wall).

By the way, if you’re a business traveler, tip your housekeeper.
