NGC is moving to a new location in April. Don’t ask me for specific dates; I’m not sure. If you’ve ever worked on a build-out, you know what I’m talkin’ about.
What I know for sure is that our new space will have a Nap Room. That’s right: a Nap Room. I’ve been napping for years, and it’s about time that my office gives me a sleep pod in which to do it without fear, or worse, shame. The accepted American myth that only the weak need to sleep - or a nap - is not proven by good science. Winston Churchill was a napper. So was JFK. No one memorializes them as slackers. In fact, good science proves what I’ve experienced - napping leads to greater focus, better balance and increased productivity. Seems very capitalist, indeed.
Now a new study of 23,000 people confirms that napping also prevents heart disease.
Please pass my eye shade…
In blogging about our Nap Room, I’m coming out - as a Napper. I know this is going to upset some of you. You’re afraid to know a Napper. You wonder if it might rub off on you. You worry that it will harm my reputation, or it might be a phase I’m going through.
Please don’t worry. Napping is just part of who I am.
If you’re new to napping, here are some tips. Dr. Sara Mednick, a Nap Expert at MetroNap, answers employers questions about naps here.
