$11.00

I recently moved from Jackson, WI (pop. 2400) to Madison, WI (pop. 250,000 progressives.)  Was I the only person who found it IRONIC that I make my living studying the attributes of Next Cities and had to drive 7 miles (unless it’s Monday, then I had to drive 45 minutes) to get a decent espresso?  You feel me….

I moved to Madison to renew my creative battery, to experience living in a city where opportunities to learn are boundless, and to be among “extra-terrestrials” like myself.

And along the way, an unexpected, wacky thing happened.  I saved $11.  That’s right… my insurance company informed me this week that because I am now living in a healthier community (look out for the biker riding in the CENTER lane of traffic on campus!), my monthly premiums will PLUMMET by $11.

Now that’s what I call a Next City.  I’m celebrating by taking the rest of the afternoon off to run some of Madison’s 100 miles of trails and parks.
