Summary

“Density” is the seventh principle of New Urbanism and an important component of building cities on a human scale. This article showcases a group of five Dutch families who reinvented what “dense development” can be, and offers specific examples for city planners, developers and elected officials who want to rethink what “density” can mean in their cities.
