FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How will this survey information be used?

A: The Top Talent Survey is an update to the 2008 Top Talent Survey, which you can download here, or in the “Downloads” section on this page. The Top Talent surveys are updated frequently by PCPS, a division of the American Institute for CPAs (AICPA), to track the workplace preferences of top talent over time.

Survey responses will be aggregated and summarized in a Top Talent Survey Booklet that leaders and HR professionals can use for benchmarking, program design, discussion, or direction in their organizations.

The 2011 survey is uniquely important for two reasons: (1) It gauges the priorities of top talent in a post-recession world.  (2) It takes a closer look at several unique groups of high potentials that have not been analyzed in the past, e.g. high potential women, high potentials who are in various life stages, non-American born CPAs, and other high potential groups.

Q: Are responses confidential?

A: Absolutely. The survey is administered by an independent third party: Next Generation Consulting. Your anonymity is guaranteed.

Q: I’d like to see the results for our organization. Is that possible?

A: Not in this year’s survey. However, you have two options. The entire survey will be published in the 2011 report. If you're ambitious, you could re-administer the survey among your organization's high potentials and compare it to the entire universe of respondents in the report. Alternatively, you could contact Rebecca Ryan at Next Generation Consulting and see if NGC could accommodate your special request. Rebecca can be reached at 888 922 9596 ext 702 or rr@nextgenerationconsulting.com.

Q: How can I see the survey results?

A: The survey results and key findings will be published in the first half of 2011. To ensure that you receive an email with the published results, please contact Joseph Schneider, js@nextgenerationconsulting.com. He will add your name to the list of folks who've requested the report.

Q: How long will the survey be open?

A: The survey is scheduled to be open through January 21, 2011. Our goal is 825 responses; we may extend the survey to fulfill that goal. Help us reach our goal by taking the survey now , or pass the survey link (http://toptalent.questionpro.com/ ) along to high potentials and leaders in your office.

Q: Should I pass the survey link around to others at my firm?

A. The survey is intended for two audiences: high potential CPAs and their leaders. Please circulate this survey to anyone in those two groups. (And thanks in advance for your help.)

Q: How will I know if I've won a prize?

A. Each week, we will draw one email from the entire group of respondents. If you've completed the survey and entered your email for the drawing, you are eligible. If your email is drawn in our weekly random drawing, we will notify you by email, and give you the option of an Apple or Amazon.com gift card. After the survey closes, your email will be destroyed.

Q: I don't work in a CPA firm. Is this survey for those of us in business, industry or government?

A: Yes. Any high potential CPA and their leader(s) are invited to participate. If we have more than 20 survey respondents from Business, Industry and Government, we will publish a special section on how to retain those CPAs. You can start the survey here .

If your question has not been answered, please contact Rebecca Ryan, rr@nextgenerationconsulting.com.
